Ghusl for Hajj

When you arrive in Medina or Jeddah then you need to do Ghusl to wear Ihram dress. Ghusl is the Arabic word and refers to the ceremonial cleaning of the complete human body. The process of Ghusl is required after sexual activity, the menstruation cycle of women and childbirth. It is also carried out on the body of a deceased person in the arrangement for a funeral. Carrying out Ghusl is Mustahabb on specific events such as before Jumma Salah, Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Adha prayers and before wearing Ihram dress to perform Hajj worship.

  • Make Wudu

After completing your Ghusl or its obligatory rites, then make a proper wudu. Wudu or ablution refers to the ceremonial cleaning of the human body with pure water in an arrangement to carrying out acts of Ibdah. Wudu is also an Arabic word. A letdown to complete Wudhu forbids an individual from offering the prayer, touching the Holy Book of Quran or performing the blessed and obligatory rituals during Hajj and Umrah, such as Tawaf e Kaaba.

  • Ittar

Ittar is also an Arabic word and it is a natural fragrance oil extracted from botanic sources. The guests of Allah must be cautious not to apply Ittar or other alcoholic perfumes whilst in the state of Ihram. But the pilgrims are free to do so before wearing the dress of Ihram.

  • Muhrim

Muhrim refers to a guest of Allah who is wearing a dress of Ihram. A person may only become a Muhrim after cleaning his or her body, wearing the prearranged clothes and making suitable Niyyah before the place of Miqat. These required actions, such as shaving the head hair or applying Ittar, are forbidden for a Muhrim.

  • Awrah

Awrah is an Arabic term and refers to the private parts of the human body, for both male and female pilgrims. These parts of the body must be hidden with clothing. Revealing the Awrah is illegitimate and is considered as an iniquity, except in circumstances of necessity.
